My caucus location was one of three in Lawrence, KS. Because of the university, it is a lot more liberal than the rest of Kansas. 2200 people showed up to an unheated, dirtfloored barn. The location was changed at the last minute to the fairgrounds, which is a good thing, as we had twice as many show up as the original location's capacity (and our original location was used as the overflow for one of the other precincts). There were more people at my precinct then caucused in all of Kansas for the 04 Dem caucus.

It went over 80% for Obama. In the first go around, the Clinton team had barely enough for viability (15%). The state went for Obama with around 75%. Now he does have favorite grandson status (his one campaign stop was in the town his grandfather came from, and he had distant cousins in the audience).

I'm slightly concerned about one thing that I always thought too ridiculous to mention. Have you ever heard the argument that people should only be able to vote in their pre-registered party's primary? Usually people argue that a Republican could vote in the Democrat's primary for a candidate he or she views as less electable. (Or vice versa.)

I always thought that kind of ridiculous.

Until my coworker came in on Tuesday and mentioned that she had voted 'against' Clinton by voting for Obama in the Illinois primary. She said when the election comes around she'll be voting Republican.

Kind of made me sick to my stomach for more reasons than I care to explain right this moment. But this is a nagging fear I have about the current election cycle.

People do do this, but I really, really don't think that many peopel do this. People aren't that motivated.
