I've always adored her, but that speech was so super rad :)

I'll admit I'd never heard of her before, but I'm a fan after that speech!

I've adored her ever since Orlando. She's so other-wordly, and it's weird to me to see her win for playing a human woman. She's one of the only people I've ever wished I looked like.

She is very gorgeous and what a wit! I'm going to go looking for her movies now. :-D Thank you for making a post to remind of her name!

She's also the White Witch in Narnia.

Also if you find interviews with her online, she's a really interesting person on topics of both gender and fame (which is why I'm a fan).

Yeah, I still haven't seen that movie. :-P

I am not surprised that you're a huge fan of someone with depth. :) I think I'll look for some of those interviews.

Don't forget polyamory, too.

And Gabriel, in Constantine (a performance I love almost as much as her White Witch).

I think that "other-worldly" is the perfect way to describe her. I admire her greatly, and was more pleased to see her win than all of the others combined.

I also had a thing for her in Orlando. Later I was utterly fascinated by her in Female Perversions (although I disliked the movie itself, I loved her in it)

I've always been stunned by how gorgeous she is (in such an interesting way) and it's awesome to see that she's smart and funny too.

Utterly. That was the best speech in years. Clooney loves playing the pranks, he's been p0wn'd.

What was the speech, may I ask?

After she explained that her American agent and the Oscar statue have the same ass she went on to riff on Clooney about how he puts on his bat suit with the nipples, every day, and that's just dedication.

HA! Oh, the bat-nipples. They're a reminder of how sometimes, Joel Schumacher should really just be put in a drawer somewhere.

Dude, the bat nipples thing started me having a coughing fit (sick) because I was laughing so hard.

How did that go? "And, it must be said, the buttocks."

She was fantastic. And I love when winners are genuinely shocked.

Amber Tamblyn's opening said last week at her poetry reading that her favorite film she's done was Stephanie Daley and mentioned Tilda as one of the reasons.

I've personally always loved her and as I never really keep track of Oscar nominees (slanderous...I know) I was actually surprised Tilda had never been previously nominated.

Yes she won the Oscar this year, but 2009 really will be the year of Tilda. I sense it... if the films she's working on come together.

I only was able to witness a single award given out -- and it was, of all things, the award given to Tilda. I liked her outfit. Her speech was, indeed, quite rousing -- I was amazed at her choice to give the Oscar away; it seemed like an amazing honor, and a selfless speech.

"If the only prayer you ever say is 'thank you', it will be enough."

I would like to also say that I think you're an amazing writer, regardless of LJ Idol and peoples' choices. I only followed a few entries, but there is something compelling about your writings -- I can't put my finger on it precisely, but I want to say there's something about your paragraph structure when you write that creates a very interesting flow.
