- ganked form everywhere:
Everyone has things they blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by asking me about something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about. Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, political leanings, thoughts on slash, favorite type of underwear, graphic techniques, etc. Repost in your own journal so that we can all learn more about each other.

- LJ is abolishing free accounts. I'm going to bed now, so I'll read up and offer commentary on this on the morrow, but it doesn't look good.

- Nominations are about to be open for the LJ advisory board. Considering I worked for Mindvox, I should know better, but I am tempted to run. Also, hello, Istanbul?

- Oh fencing. Fencing fencing fencing.

Source? A quick search isn't giving me anything.

Wait, what? No more free LJ?

Huh. Might signal the end of me blog.

~~~~~~~~~~
And okay, I'll ask a question:
How do you personally know when you're in love?
Newly created accounts must have ads.
Older free accounts I think can still be free and not sponsored.
HAve to read up on it tomorrow.
Am going to bed, but it's all the fuck over my friends list. I'll post links tomorrow.
From the FAQ, emphasis mine.
Basic Accounts
Basic Account is an option available to accounts which were created before March 12, 2008. No account created after this date can be turned into a Basic Account. Basic Accounts will not have any advertising displayed on their accounts, but will have fewer benefits and features. A Basic Account includes the following:
* Upload up to 6 userpics
* 25 subscriptions for notification of new posts, friends, comments, or events
In conclusion, if you have a free account with no ads, LJ is not making you choose between leaving, having ads, or giving them money. Which is something. But if you want to create a new journal, you do need to either put up with ads or give them money.
I am curious
What is it about life that keeps you going 100 miles an hour? Has there been a time when you weren't going full tilt? How did that turn out for you?
Okay, that's just evil. Because it means we won't be able to get new people to join since they'll be griping about having to have ads on their journals. And it's just a step away from enforcing the ads on people like me with ancient free accounts. If I liked ads, I would be spending more time on myspace.
I had a hard time trying to think of something you *don't* write about. I had a thought, but I think I will email you about that one instead to avoid any internet crazy.
Please write about all your favorite bath products and such like. Or your favorite popsicles.
Being busy (too busy) is how I deal with clinical depression, which has been crippling at times in my life. This makes me a bit stressed and high strung, but it works for me, and I am able to maintain it (and have pretty consistently for at least a decade now), so I do it. It's probably a slight manic tendency (my father is bipolar), but work is the chief way I self-medicate. That I have the luxury of doing the work I want and also viewing my pleasure pursuits as work (and work is a good thing) is what keeps it from being non-toxic.
I'm also someone who has wasted a lot of time and not put my gifts to their full use for too much of my life. This is making up for it. It's atonement, both to myself and to the world. I'm not saving lives here, but if 2% of what I produce matters at some point to someone, it's still important and an obligation I'm glad to have.
I'm way too familiar with both mental and physical defeat to give that shit even half a chance.
Uluru bath bombs from Lush. It really does smell like Australia. So much it makes me cry.
Antihero from Villainess. I think it smells like Richard from Swordspoint.
Indiscreet from Villainess. Because sometimes even I want to be Narcissa Malfoy.
Whitechapel from BPAL. Lucius. I find it a comfort.
Les Infortunes from BPAL. Severus. I find it a reminder.
King of Clubs from BPAL. This is as unfiltered me as it gets. I mean, I have character associates with it too, but it's this very masculine perfume that makes people of all genders and orientations gravitate to me and then often babble about their discomfort over it. I love it. Also, it makes me horny too.
Buck Moon from BPAL. Bright and muddy and strange, a not quite right spring, a too knowing 16-year-old boy. It's the me that forgets she's 35 now.
The fact is that I fall in love easily, in lots of different ways, all the time, so it's not something I tend to question, debate or analyze. Like the difference between porn and erotica, I know it when I see it. If you mean love in the simple, obvious, traditional, romantic relationship sense, it's pretty clear once I want to step up. I mean, I can be _such_ a guy. I fight with swords for fucks sake, at a given point I get very "I bring trinkets and protect from the enemy" so that's pretty clear.
I've always said I just wanted to get paid to be clever. I mean, I should be a dandy. People offer me patronage to be a wit and make their parties better. I think I'm well on my way, in my way.
I'm not even joking.
AWESOME. Same thing for me, except it would be getting paid to be loving and caring. Completely on my own terms, no expectations, just pay me to be...me.
