I have it on good authority that this seems to be a bug... but you know. *hands up* You can pop by my journal to find out.

I know the thing where you can't search on lots of terms is a bug because they are words that happen to contain offensive words. But the whole, these interests are no longer in the top 100 list -- that still seems suspicious to me. And if it is a bug, they need to address and acknowledge publicly, since they are so past having the benefit of the doubt, and of course they haven't.

I agree completely. And none of it really matters to me in the end because the more I think about it, the less I want to be here. I just can't take the ups and downs.

I had pretty much resigned myself to stay since the new policy guidelines were fairly clear and stuff, but this has me more ballistic than the first four rounds of bullshit.

I find it odd that these interests have disappeared from the popular interests page, but I also find it odd that the popular interests page does not list Christianity, Islam, Judaism, or civil rights...all things which are listed as interests in similar proportions to fanfiction and bisexuality. I also find it odd, if they are censoring things, that they don't remove alcohol and cigarettes from the popular list, as alcohol could be considered controversial and cigarettes would not be an interest most parents would want encouraged.

In other words, I think there is more going on here than meets the eye, and I would like them to explain. Whether or not they will is another critter entirely.

Depression has also been removed.

I resent that we are expected to be shiny happy people when my experience on the Internet, dating back to 1990 has been about the discovery that we are not alone in our imperfections. If the value of the Internet and of LJ is about overcoming isolation, this is a slap in the face.

I was going to reply to your main post here - but your sub comment here is literally what I was going to say, right down to 'shiny happy people'.

And I was afraid of being run out of a little town for living my not-so-publicly-agreeable life. Though I don't post often, LJ seemed safe enough. I suspect that I might see the virtual torches at dusk here first.
I wonder where they turn to sort out their very real life - the bank lobby? It's shameful - but obviously this doesn't exist in their personal top 100 interest list.

Not sure when, but at some point interests have been taken off of my list such as 'hair pulling', 'mistress', and 'the other woman'. (I have readded) I underatnd they are not for everyone, but all of my posts are locked.

But in turn, I know of journals that have much more explicit interests sill listed, which are not always locked, and even post certain types of websites on thier user info page.

I used to post at PF and TOW. Sigh. It's a part of my life that's over and I'm glad, but people need to lighten up.
