bad tv

Sci-fi Channel on in the background. Some shit is on called Special Unit 2. It's like low-rent X-files had sex with low-rent Torchwood. Lots of lizard sex jokes.

Why does this even exist?

Because the Sci-Fi channel generally has no idea how to channel what's popular into something that's good, hence their amazing original movies, such as Ice Spiders, Aztec Rex, and Mansquito.

But man, if I lived in Vancouver, I would be in so many of these things. I've got a soft spot for trainwrecks. ^_^

Why does this even exist?

Because approximately one in 10 of the shows that the Sci-fi channel actually makes is actually quite good (Farscape and BSG being the most obvious examples) and the rest are impressively low-rent junk that's designed to capitalize on the success of other shows. Thankfully, most people at least have sufficient taste to let these pieces of trash die a rapid death.

Because they've got 24 hours times 7 days of airspace to fill with content and they can't afford to fill every hour with high-quality content?

yep...I agree with the other commenter's. Sci-fi channel is a great idea *in theory*. In practice, they tend to show every single bit of drek they can possibly find. *very* occasionally, they actually have something worth watching.
