LJ Advisory Board voting

Today is the last day to vote in the LJ Advisory Board election.

Please remember that ranked voting is your friend. If your first choice candidate is eliminated, your vote will go to your second choice candidate. This means you can express your preferences and be pragmatic at the same time (i.e., if you are concerned about fannish representation and support me, vote for me in position one and legomymalfoy in position two -- if I am eliminated, your vote will go to her).

I am currently in third place, but have a tremendous amount of second choice votes, which means I still have a very slim chance of taking this thing.

You have until midnight EST

... I never did write that rant about why this is a really lousy voting system to pick one candidate, did I (as applied to the LJ elections, I mean, rather than Cambridge University-specific)?

I don't suppose it'll make a huge amount of difference, mind, given how corrupt the electorate seems to be. But I would contend that you'd probably have a considerably higher chance of winning if Condorcet was being used, given your huge number of second choice votes.

It's not a good situation. If [livejournal.com profile] jameth doesn't win, he'll cry voter fraud; if he does, LJ is basically somewhere I don't want to be.

If jameth doesn't win, he'll cry voter fraud.

He can cry me a river longer than the mighty Missisippi!

In accordance with the prophecy...

And he is.:)

As my prophecies go, that really was one of the easier ones, you know!

It was discovered in a wooden box at Stonehenge.

My neighborhood and several others are having garage sales this weekend. Know it is a drive.........

Buh? I think you responded in the wrong place.

[identity profile] awe-struck.livejournal.com 2008-05-29 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I did....New York to Indiana would be a drive though........

I voted for you on both my accounts and if I had more, I'd vote for you there, too! After reading your explanatory post and meeting you in person, I absolutely support you!!

Thank you! We'll see what happens. I hope the results are good for the LJ community and that the end of this process will cause stuff to settle down a bit.

Just FYI: we're only supposed to vote once, with one account.

[identity profile] meirion.livejournal.com 2008-05-29 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed. I have abided by this, despite having a large number of accounts from which I could conceivably have voted. I wouldn't, as electoral fraud is just wrong.

[identity profile] stardragonca.livejournal.com 2008-05-30 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I also voted only once,on principle. It was a clear boundary defining what I thought my side was.

[identity profile] akemi42.livejournal.com 2008-05-29 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I voted for you my dear. :)

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2008-05-29 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

Hello,thank you for adding me.
I thought that since I am supporting you,you should be able to read my (very dull) blog,no?
You would be my natural first choice, but are in 2nd place for purely pragmatic(anti-jameth) reasons. This makes me sad,as you would be the best person for the job, such as it is.
LJ makes me unhappy, but it's where I live.

(If one is a fan of a fannish person does that make one a fan-fan?)
Your humble and obedient servant,
StarDragon.

Thanks for saying hi and welcome.

I respect the pragmatism decision absolutely.

And yeah, life on LJ is complex these days, ne?

Hai.*shakes head and feels old*

[identity profile] splix.livejournal.com 2008-05-29 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I voted for you as first choice. Best of luck.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2008-05-29 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I figure it'll probably be Legomymalfoy, but I can live with that.

[identity profile] stardragonca.livejournal.com 2008-05-30 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
In retrospect,I could have safely done that, and produced the same result. :(

Stick a fork in jameth,he's done!
