Torchwood rec

This is stunning. And devastating. I've seen the plot more or less before in other fics, but this is a finer thing.

Oofda. I'm still working through the end of first season, so I usually don't go ficsurfing to avoid spoilers, but I'm glad I broke my rule.

Reading good Jack/Ianto is improving my writing immeasurably. I keep going through what I previously thought of as reserved dialogue and saying, "These guys are using way too many words. All this could probably be accomplished with a glare and a noncommital comment."

Word. I have a bit of experience doing that from the Riverside fandom, because Richard is Not a Verbal Guy, but to have to do it in a modern setting with essentially (I mean, Jack, what are you going to do?) modern guys has been really fascinating. I'm normally a dialogue heavy writer and the Torchwood fandom Does Not Allow.
