- Talked to Patty this morning! 'Twas good, but as ever, an hour a week with her away so long is really hard, but we both got letters from each other this week, so that was good.

- Work is being irksome.

- Torchwood picnic, which led to a hilarious discussion about why isn't this fandom crazier. Maybe I've been spoiled by all the batshit in HP, but seriously, where are the astral plane marriages to Owen and the reincarnations of Jack's dead wives? Bring me some Fandom Wank quality crazy, people!

- Meanwhile, Borders has the previously impossible to find Torchwood novels. It's worth noting that the one with Ianto on the cover is sold out at 34th and 7th as of my purchase of it (figured, get the one with the fewest available copies first) and there are the most of the one with Owen on the cover. Oh, fandom!

- There may be Jack/Annie porn being written. Maybe. It's sort of kicking around my head and is turning out to be more revelatory about Jack than Annie. I suppose that's not surprising as he's the crazy one.

Maybe there hasn't been enough time yet? I feel as if writers have to have a certain amount of fanfic convention built up before they can launch into these kind of things. Otherwise readers don't follow them there.

(I'm thinking about a period in Buffy fandom when significant numbers of writers suddenly started writing AUs where the characters were in high school in the Real World and that kind of thing. And somehow people were reading them and liking it. But it took awhile to crawl over every single square inch of canon and write around it before that started happening.)

Oh, I'm not talking about fanfic. I'm talking about crazy fans that embarrass us all but keep us entertained. And not in the good way.

Do you not know of Snapes on an Astral Plane or the girl that channeled the spirit of Real Dead Hobbits and taught people their Secret Hobbit Language?

Oh, silly me. I'd forgotten all about those kinds of things. I haven't got any kind of answer for that.

No, I've resolutely avoided HP fandom because (shhhh. don't tell anyone) I've only read the first two books. I figure eventually I'll catch up and have a decade of fic to read. :)

It took way too long for my Borders to get in Twilight Streets, even with my asking them to special-order it. *hugs her copy that she got two weeks ago*
