- Worst PMS in a long time. High levels of anxiety and pain. Much more under control today than yesterday, but it feel tenuous. Not enjoying it. Trying to track back over the last month and figure out cause (my guess is a secret source of soy I'm not noticing as once I cut soy after the whole mom breast cancer drama things got much better for me).

- Lots of freelance writing.

- The missing Patty thing has hit the Really Hard stage, although that's got to be partially related to item 1. Not that I don't really miss her, but this is what our lives look like and it was such a feature from the very beginning of our relationship (we dated for less than a month before she went on a dig) that it's a very matter of fact thing. I mean, of course I have a partner who is periodically far away that I have to write letters to on paper. I never thought about it before, but it is sort of amazing how much both of our lives revolve around old/lost things, even if in entirely different ways. So yeah.

- I'm really wanting to go out dancing. Not big band, not any of my historic shit, but I just want to go to a club and dance to some trashy modern music. And not all that bleepy bleep bleep stuff that doesn't have words, because I don't get that really.

- Still listening to that Imogen Heap song on repeat. Why is it so good?

- Cyberwoman is a way less sucky episode once you've gone and watched all the rest of Torchwood, because then you actually care! On the other hand, it's still filled with OMGWTFBBQ, and in the case of the BBQ, kinda literally. I still can't decide if Jack and Ianto were fucking at this point, although I do feel more convinced that kiss was Jack trying to use his "excess life" powers on Ianto there, because seriously, while that might not make a lot of sense, does any other theory somehow make more sense? Not really. Also, wow, what a bad actor day for everyone in that episode.

- Lots of freelance writing on disability issues lately, which is interesting, because I always have to research -- it's always stuff I know nothing about, as opposed to Deaf-related or immune-disordered or something I know about like that.

If everyone is having a bad actor day, then it's probably a bad director day :/

I don't think they were fucking yet. I think that happened post-Cyberwoman. I agree "healing kiss".

Oh, I didn't mean in terms of the quality of the acting, I just mean, what shitty things to get stuck doing all day/week -- that poor woman who played Lisa in that costume! GDL having to do that much crying -- yuck yuck yuck. And water and crappy effects. Not a fun shoot I'd have to imagine.

Ooooh. Understanding blossoms.

Yeah... I like the *episode* but I really disliked the cyberwoman costume. It was sooooo cheezy. It made no sense. Even if you were making 1/2 armored cybermen, wouldn't you protect the guts? Protect that torso! But then it can't be all sexay.

*stab*

I mentally labeled it the Cybersploitation episode. Ever seen any of the promotional material for Coffy (http://www.impawards.com/1973/coffy.html)? Yeah, like that. The same sense of "Ooooh, the Other and she's dangerous and check out that navel! Dayumn!"

I am having horrible PMS as well. I wonder if it has to do with the equinox.

Do you mind if I ask where the majority of your freelance work comes from? I've only used guru.com so far.

AssociatedContent is this site that will pay almost anyone small amounts of money to write anything, and the quality is often dubious. HOWEVER, once you demonstrate a track record in particular areas, they will offer you stuff that isn't available to the general userbase, and I do a ton of stuff for them for publication on client websites in the .05 - .10/word range that's pretty quick and easy for me to write.

Ah, the cyberpants episode. I wondered what you would make of that one :-)

Imogen Heap is addictive. My dance teacher did a piece of choreography to it and I hunted down the album to give her a copy of it. It then lived on repeat in my iTunes for days going on to weeks. Oddly, I am usually a real lyric snob, but besides "Hide and Seek" itself, hers are pretty lame, but the music just insinuates itself into your consciousness and refuses to pack up and go home.

Have you seen the youtube recording of her performing "Just For Now" live?
(Can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25VGdNU3nrU )
Watching her create all of the samples live and then performing along with herself is truly extraordinary.

That hadn't occurred to me before, but is definitely impressive, if also very far from easy. About the only way that particular situation could be more spot on would be if long trips by sea were involved. That said, I vividly know about missing people and also how odd and unreal the world can get when there is no one else immediately around.
