Jesse Helms has died. Wherever his next stop is, may he do less harm and find more joy.

I've talked about working on Gantt's campaign against him in NC almost (this blows my mind) 20 years ago now. You just never thought the guy would go away.

Wow.

I'm not spewing more vitriol, because there's not point now. I almost lost my voice over that man enough times when he was alive.

Huh. You were in NC for that? I'd just gotten here shortly before. I really thought Gantt was going to win, and I was just devastated when he didn't.

Also, I've been afraid to put bumper stickers on my car since then, because someone cut the Gantt sticker from my bumper with a razor or a knife of some kind. It really kind of freaked me out.

I think I'mma risk it for Obama, though.

No, I had just moved to DC for uni and went down there by bus to campaign for a week, between that and doing Act Up protests in DC, I spent a lot of time making noise because of stuff.

We were in the motel the night the really insane racially charged ad with the guy crumpling up the paper debuted and we couldn't even believe what we were seeing.
