Wow, those are great. I have have hand-tinted pics of my dad from the 30's (his high school portrait?) and you've got it down :)
(His also had this faint 'lines drawn/painted on' effect too, like, as if his lips and eyebrows and features were highlighted a little, not sure if it's worth doing on anything but just a facial portrait alone).
He might like to hear that 'his' era is cool again, but it can be hard to communicate complex concepts to deaf old men over the phone, so, maybe not.
