In terms of technical skill and impact this actually isn't one of my favourite Sam fics. In terms of addressing something I haven't seen anyone else look at and I have no idea why -- it wins. Kali and I were just talking about the matter of Jack's first language and how it woud have to be unrecognizeable to our English. And Sam shows us that here and gives it to us (and Ianto) on such an almost throwaway basis that it reads, not just like canon, but like those made up words need to be help on to desperately and worried over in one's head. Certainly I am holding them just a little bit close.

I can't imagine a language surviving for over three thousand years, and certainly not English. Ancient English, as a subject, maybe, but not a living tongue, not even the way Old English lingers on in a few holdover words in its modern descendant.

The words he invents are charming.:)
