In my 20s, I had a job that engaged in similar shenanigans such as you describe with the Germans. It all ended with an IRS investigation - first of me (which is what they were hoping would happen to deflect what *they* were up to), and then of them, as I had kept every single paystub they had ever given me (I think they didn't expect that part).

I know you haven't asked for advice regarding the Germans, but that's never stopped me from giving it....

May I suggest that you start looking for new work? These type of situations are not sustainable (to put it mildly), and are incredibly stress inducing as well.
