briefly

- Six hours of sleep and I feel a lot better than I did yesterday. Yes, six hours is a big deal. Which is horrible. I just kinda don't really sleep in the summer. And it's not an insomnia thing, because it's not like I'm trying. I just wake up really early and go to bed really late and it is what it is. I don't know why.

- Also this? Made my day. Of course, my day started like five minutes ago, but still. Small victories.

- I am trying to come up with the most strategic order to do today's tasks in.

- If you are a salad bar user, Do not use the tongs outside of their specific area! I was going to get the same thing for lunch yesterday I had had the day before. In fact, I had decided that this would be the one thing that would comfort me in my shitty shitty day -- carrots with dill and lemon and garlic and chicken, eaten with fucking chopsticks. It was all I wanted. But some ASSHOLE used the carrot tongs in the pasta salad next to the carrots, eventhough they had their own tongs, so guess who had to have thai fucking noodles instead?

I know it seems like a simple unimportant thing. And a silly thing for me to get worked up about. But every minute of every day is about what I can't have because someone else was lazy for a fraction of a fucking second. And if I don't notice? Sick for DAYS.

Hahaha!
I totally remember you talking about that guy. It's good to hear someone else got the joke.

I went on a date with someone last night who has celiac and it's a big adjustment on this end too. I pretty much only have to avoid fish and fish-based products and that is easy to do. He, on the other hand, can eat very little, including chicken because it's fed with soy which he's also allergic to. I felt a little more prepared because of your entries, but I really had no idea--until I experienced it in person with someone--what it's like to find something suitable that won't make them sick for days on end.

Yeah, I just saw your post! I'm pretty sensitive, but I'm better off than some. But if Patty eats pasta or something I definitely can't kiss her for an hour or so.

And of course there are things people don't think of -- everyone always forgets the wheat in soy sauce ofr example or how it's often a filer in shitty American wasabi. But it's the cross-contamination issues that make me really cranky.

If you can't get Tamari out there, let me know and I'll mail you a bottle.

Oh yeah. I have it, but it's annoying to never be able to get sushi on the fly, because I'm never prepared.

It's not a silly thing! It's your health and well being. Important.
As you say, it's one more thing you can't do or have because because someone else was a thoughtless clot.

"And a silly thing for me to get worked up about."

Except it's not silly -- and those of us who don't have to worry about these things for our own health are sometimes careless. Because we're just not thinking about it. :( So, noted. I'm sorry your meal was interfered with.

Hear hear! I am not coeliac but I have various food intolerances (including wheat and dairy proteins) and so have a similar if less extreme "ill for days" in situations like these.
*hugs*
