Sadly, it's been deleted now, but someone suggested that our genetic illness might be caused by demons of illness and perhaps prayer is the answer for a cure.

To which I replied that I had a genetic disease, not a moral stain.

To which others replied that there was nothing accusatory about his comments (infested by demons? pray for deliverance? WHAT?).

Wow. I think I've found another item to add to the (very short) list of statements that will reduce me to spluttering, incoherent fury. Good to know!

Meanwhile, if you need me, I'll be over there, despairing of the human race - some members of it, at least...

As a civilisation (just humour me here) we are at that awkward age. The dominant culture is a society of displaced peasants, driven off the land, and forced to live in town, for the first time since the fishing villages of the Neolithic.
The U.S. is full of people whose families were driven off the land, hauled across the ocean, driven off the land again.

They have electricity. They just don't believe in it.
