whee

Apparently my Paypal account was bigger on the inside. Seriously, I had more $$ in there than I thought. So I'm now registered for Gallifrey One.

The big problem with Gallifrey One for me is the date. It falls right in the middle of Valentine's day, and since [livejournal.com profile] lkell would never go to one, I can't really go either. *sigh*

The only reason I am going is Patty will be on a dig in Oman this year. Otherwise it would be a big no here too.

The DWNY peopel when I said I am only going this year because my partner will be on a dig were all "oh, get him into Who!" and I was all "Do not anger lesbian with pick axe"

[identity profile] tommx.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 12:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Luckily I have managed to get through my little life without angering too many lesbians with pick axes.

I have resolved to attend at least one con this year. Just need to decide which one(s).

That's not the sort of mistake one makes twice.

"Do not anger lesbian with pick axe"

::gigglefit::

They so weren't prepared for lesbians.

"You'd make a great Tegan with that haircut!"

Yeah...no.

I think the DWNY people are truly lovely, but I had more than few moments at the Peculiar where I had to stop myself from starting major dicksizing bullshit. The consequences of seeming feminine never cease to fucking awe me.

Ack. I apologize on DWNY's behalf for any really needless comments made by any of their number.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, it's really truly and totally fine.

Because the world as I deal with it is mostly queer and genderqueer, I sometimes get gobsmacked by what's merely people being gracious in ways that make sense to them but don't necessarily make sense to me simply because I forget. So it was instructive more than anything else. And sort of hilarious.

Quite. This is the sort of thing which is Not Done. It simply isn't.

Alright!! See you there! :)

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
baring any unforseen oddness that makes cosplaying at this con too weird for me I'm currently planning at least one jack outfit and a Lucy Saxon thing.

Oo yay!

I'll certainly bring back my Eight outfit, in the hope of getting two other Eights for a "Caerdroia" shoot, but I'm also considering another slightly random outfit.

[identity profile] britgeekgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-08-20 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
*perk*

Caerdroia?

That might be what finally convinces me to do Eight cosplay.

Can I call dibs on Tigger!Doc? ;)

[identity profile] britgeekgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-08-20 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! I'll start looking for my pocket of holding and a scarlet plushie creature of some sort, henceforth!

(although, really, it was C'rizz and the cows that had me cracking up. "...With unknown intent.")

BTW, if [livejournal.com profile] praedestinatio and her friend [livejournal.com profile] kiralikescake make it to Gally, there could be a third Eight - they're planning to do a Roberts!Master/Eight rig for a local event later this year, you see... I just have to expose 'em to Caerdroia else they won't know what on Earth I'm talking about...

What fun!

I'm still at the kicking-around-ideas stage at the moment, but I'm contemplating Evangelista's "mourning garb" from "The Forest of the Dead", or else one of a couple old-school characters, depending on how outrageous I'm feeling and/or if I want to tackle yet *another* costume I'll have to explain to everyone...

I tried cosplaying one TW character (Suzie Costello) but it fell v. flat without a group to do it *with*...

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2008-08-20 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Well, with any luck there will be a Ianto in my entourage. Also, you need a metal hand and some plastic flies.

[identity profile] britgeekgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-08-20 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Those, I can cover. I've a half-done Risen Mitten project languishing the my craft room, as it is. I just need to finish the blasted thing...

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2008-08-20 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Risen Mitten is always hilarious. No matter what the team thinks.

[identity profile] marchek.livejournal.com 2008-08-22 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Suzie Costello with the Risen Mitten, how perfect.

I'm trolling ebay for a stopwatch. Fortunately there is a very good closeup of the watch in "They Keep Killing Suzie" so I'm aiming for something as close the original as possible.

Won't hear officially if my vacation time in February is approved for another week and half but there's only a 10% chance they'll deny it so Gallifrey is almost a go for me.
