Do you want to be focused on by MTV, or have them point the camera elsewhere? Dressing as Jack I think will take the focus off you (not dramatic enough). Dressing as dressy 1940's lady, maybe some attention. Since it's for an MTV News segment on steampunk, they're going to be looking for goggles and hardware and will be drawn to whoever is wearing the biggest and largest amount of both. Plus, it's MTV News. The whole segment is going to last, what, a few seconds? Dress to enjoy yourself.
