virginia_fell just linked to this amazing piece on McCain and why the author is outraged at the way he uses and abuses his former-POW status.

The piece is about a lot of things.

War and rape and movies and the ways in which our parents will always be somewhat mysterious to us.

And for people who wanted to know a bit back when I posted my ten weird things list about why I get all tangled up over my feelings about war and reading and writing war stories. This touches on that too (and wow, do I love the movie that's at the crux of this piece).
