Spirit Airlines

The manifestation of pure evil? Y / N

(as in, is the cheap airfare to LA going to make me wish I'd spent the extra $50 when it all goes to hell and I am not at the bar, drink in hand Thursday evening before Gallifrey One?)

I had a friend that worked for them and they wronged her horribly, but I don't know of any bad passenger experiences and I've never flown them myself.

I'll weigh and say that the last flight I took to LA made me swear that it was the only journey I would ever spring for first class on, afterwords. And I think I was flying on a pretty decent airline.

How much?

(Curious because I am about to move to LA and would like to visit NYC!)

Sorry, have not taken Spirit and can't report.

Not in my experience, no. They were really good to me when I had to fly short notice from Florida back to New York with a completely destroyed ankle precariously wrapped. They made it about as easy and non-miserable as is possible. The only part that sucked was dealing with Islip airport, but that no longer applies.

have never used their services. i support them, however, so i hope you fly them because if they make money i get paid. whee!

also, they fly into/out of detroit, and i have a secret fondness for them because they have an animist temple there. it's a huuuuge building and it says 'FLY SPIRIT' on the side in glowing letters. i have only ever passed it on the bus, but that's what it must be. [nods firmly]

I flew home on Spirit once, and it was the most ghetto, terrible series of flights ever. I had two layovers, one of which was almost two hours longer than it should have been (in a mostly disused terminal of the airport in Detroit. I felt like I was in The Langoliers), and the planes themselves were really cramped and uncomfortable. More than a plane should be. Also, the people were remarkably unhelpful and brusque.

I dunno, your results may vary, but I'd never fly them again.

Well, YMMV of course, but I used to fly them Islip to LA back in the day and it was totally worth the price and the treking out to islip from the city.
