briefly

We made only enough progress on the house to sleep in our own bed.

The window guards were horrifically expensive.

Things with my dad are pretty much entirely fucked up right now.

I am experiencing a really bad intersection of anxiety and my heart/neuro stuff that makes it very hard to do anything, although I'm apparently covering well, and it is getting better, but it's HORRIBLE. I just keep telling myself this is normal, this is a first encounter with this sort of thing, it's terrible for anyone, no one is innately equipped to deal with this shit.

Packing for the weekend I found the shirt I use for my Jack cosplay (and, you know, my life). I hadn't been able to find it for weeks and weeks and it was making me crazy, because I smile whenever I see it hanging in the closet. It gave me a little rush of happiness.

I think we were robbed by geeks. Aside from the expensive stuff and Shark Attack 3: Megalodon they took Severus's wand. Buh what?

Found pictures of me at 23, and pictures of Little when she was little in the things upended.

All my pageant crowns were crushed.

This morning, Patty called me into the office. "Honey, why is there a woodpecker pecking our window?"

It's going to be horrible for a while, because it *IS* horrible.

Keeping you both in my thoughts, since that's all I can do at this distance. Otherwise I'd be down there like a shot trying to help you put things to rights as quickly as possible, so you both could get back to feeling at home again.

That's really awful. I wish I could fix something.

Severus's wand? Really? I hope that cosmically backfires on them.

Did the saw work out okay?

I agree with what norda said.

It's another one of those one moment, one step, one day at a time things.

All I can offer is my thoughts and prayers and while it's nowhere near enough I hope it helps a little.

Peace.

As sick as it is, sometimes people steal things just because they seem important to others.

I am so sorry this happened. It hurts so much to have things that mean a lot to you personally taken or destroyed. Here's to making happy memories this weekend.

It will get better. These things are lows, and the world is full of brilliant highs to complement them. Which, you know, sounds like empty platitudes, but it's true. Hang in there.

Thinking of you and yours still.

What was up with the woodpecker?

No idea. There was a fucking woodpecker attacking our window. We heard him in the spring before Patty went to Syria. he'd wake us up and we'd say "evil bird!" but we never saw him. But today it was our window! I was just glad we'd closed the windows before we went to bed. A wild bird flown into the house is a very bad omen (and a big pain in the ass) and I just couldn't have taken it.

We lived in a flat in a building with wooden siding for a while. We'd get woodpeckers going after the building. After complaining about it to her, mom sent us out for seed and suet blocks, since those are really appealing to woodpeckers (presumably because they're easier to get nutrition out of).

If it continues to trouble you, and you can figure out a city-friendly rig, it may be a solution.

(And now I feel painfully rustic.)
