I shouldn't even be looking

But I found something on Ebay that may be perfect for a coat for my Jack cosplay. I have emailed [livejournal.com profile] marchek for her expert advice.

What I really shouldn't be looking at is a 1969 Piper Navajo. Although gawking about at planes online will be a shittier vice in a year or two when I finally finish my license.

ETA: getting more measurements. realized coat is in NYC. may be going to see it in person if the numbers seem plausible. *fingers crossed*

You can always get a coat from here. RAF surplus.

Right, except the historically accurate coat is extremely not show accurate. But different historical coats are much closer and can be altered accordingly, which may be what I hope I just stumbled on (the real issues are it: a) going out of my price range and b) will it be too big to alter appropriate for my tiny little frame).

I know it's not quite right, but it's the only source I know of for similar coats, aside from making it yourself.

I wish you luck in your search!

Yeah. No the whole thing is IMPOSSIBLE, since the one company I know of making reproduction coats has it totally wrong.

Don't worry about it being too big. In 90% of the promo shots and show footage, that coat fits for shit on John Barrowman's shoulders. A little big is just you striving for authenticity.

I just don't want to look like I'm swimming in it, which is a pretty easy problem considering my non-existent shoulders. But I really, really think this is the one.

Fingers crossed. ^_^ Everyone needs a greatcoat they love.
