- Patty's in Boston and I found it harder than I expected last night. I mean, certainly, we're used to being separated for chunks of time, but I suppose it's just that in winter it's grimmer and after the burglary, I'm probably still a little weird. So I'm glad she gets back tomorrow, and also that we have this sort of practice for when she goes to Oman -- at least the days will be getting longer then.
- I've decided to go to fencing tomorrow. How can I not?
- Dealing with annoying drama with the NYS tax people, because, as far as I can tell, some crap crossed in the mail or got filed incorrectly on their end and now there's a fucking warrant. This shit happened last year too, and was also resolved with a series of aggravating phone calls. (ETA: This is infinitely more fucked up and frustrating than last year right now, and I loathe that my female wiring is such that this makes me cry. Additionally, because NYS is evil, there is no feedback system -- that's right, if their department of taxation provides you with shoddy service, double bills you, erroneously files legal charge against you, etc -- THERE'S NO ONE YOU CAN COMPLAIN TO) (ETA2: Oh look, a helpful person who says I don't owe them anything! Who wants to bet money I'll get some other idiotic threatening letter from them in about a week?).

Sure you do--your state rep.
Yeah, it's city, not state, but if you send them a well-documented letter showing just HOW the city screwed up/you over, with a polite request that they look into it, they'll look into it and folks at the city will be scrambling. Gives them a chance to look like the Hero Who Saves The Day, is an authority the city will listen to, and so on.
