(no subject)

One of the really shitty things that happened when our house got robbed is that my pocket watch got stolen. It wasn't a good watch or anything (unlike the wrist watch, which I can't even talk about), but I liked it, it was loyal (the loyalty of watches matters in my family, as my father pretty much stops any watch he puts on instantly, so we must beware of wonkiness), and I had a small fob on it that one of the people in my head was fond of in the form of a pendant from Wyrding Studios. I'm really pissed about the whole thing.

I don't have a new watch yet, although it is on the holiday wishlist. But I did find my new fob today (photo waaaaaaaaaaaay bigger than actual size):

Oh, that's beautiful.

I don't wear wind up watches as they gain time on me. The gold Seiko I got as a graduation gift from my parents is useless - gains up to seven hours a day. But on anyone else, it is fine. It is worse with wind-up watches, but a poor-quality battery-operated watch will be affected too, though they tend to lose time. My most recent one would be fine for a few days, then suddenly be behind 40 minutes, making it pretty with the hand-painted irises on the face, but totally useless. So, I wear big ugly men's Timex Iron Man watches. They work, they keep good time, even on me, and they glow blue, which might be even better than knowing what time it really is.

Might I suggest:

:D I got this for my friend for Christmas. Bastard guessed it the other day, and I'm horrible at masking my emotions, but luckily his girlfriend told him he guessed wrong, so hopefully I'm in the clear.

I feel in love with this last year and my hubby got it for me for Christmas. I decided I hated wrist watches and couldn't stand anything on my wrist after my long time beloved Seiko bit the dust. Now, I feel Indiana Jones-y every day! :P

And it sets itself to the atomic clock, so it's always right and I don't have to muck about with it. ::big grin::

And I also think your fob is of the cool.
