Saturday, 10am (Oh god, are you serious? 10am? I'm going to be hungover, dressed like Jack and explaining to chicks how to bind their breasts and find men's shirts that fit them? for serious? That should be hilarious. Actually, I just thought of something even funnier, but even I'm not that crazy at 10am).
Getting Started With Cosplay
Aimee Major Steinberger, Tina Beychok, Bill Ernoehazy, Bob Mitsch, Catie Tagawa, Racheline Maltese

Saturday, 4pm (You should all be awake in time for this exercise in utter plutonium).
Girl!Fandom: It Isn't New, and It Isn't All Squee!
Jennifer Kelley, Carolyn Louaillier, Racheline Maltese, Tara O'Shea, Paul Cornell

Saturday, 11:30pm (Take a break from drinking as I find only quasi-inappropriate excuses to talk about strangulation and mauve panties -- folks who were at D*C and saw my incredibly sleep-deprived panel on filthy fanfic know of what I speak).
Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang: The Adult Themes of Torchwood & Doctor Who
Adult-themed program (18+ only); Salina Conlan, Trey Korte, Racheline Maltese, Tara O'Shea

Come to my stuff, people. I'm fucking hilarious. Seriously, I give good panel.

Between your panels and another flistie's, it's going to be a jolly Gally this year!

At least the rather lovely Paul Cornell is going to be on the plutonium-panel...

Re: the cosplay, 'cause I'm curious, are there men who cosplay female characters, too? And are there tutorials for them on how to do it? I'm only hearing the female->male direction. Or are there generally more women in fannish cosplay (or possibly fandom that loves cosplay) to start with?

I'm bummed we're not on any panels together - but then I'm also relieved that Shaun didn't put me on any more than he did. Four and the Masque is enough!

We had quite a long discussion about that at [livejournal.com profile] dw_cosplay. If there are male "crossplayers" they're few and far between, it seems. I suspect you're right, that there are more women in that particular aspect of fandom anyhow, but I could be wrong.

Male -> female cosplay is much more prevalent in anime fandoms in general and in cosplay occurring at fan events in Eastern countries. I almost never see it in live-action fandoms.

YOU ARE ON A PANEL WITH PAUL CORNELL.

No, let me repeat that.

YOU ARE ON A PANEL WITH PAUL CORNELL.

I'M ON A PANEL WITH PAUL CORNELL.

That's a lot! And I judged the YA costume contest at D*C and it was exhausting and that was waaaay less formal than a masquerade.

Are yours all in one day, dare I ask?

Wrote "Human Nature/The Family of Blood" two-parter, and a fair bit of spinoff media. Also writes comic books (Captain Britain, Young Avengers) and original novels.

Totally wacky. Also, for a panel that's going to, for multiple reasons, probably generate a pretty large audience.

I wonder how many of the attendees will be wearing "Cornell Cuddle Puddle" con ribbons by that point? XD

Okay, you totally need to give me the scoop on everyone, because I feel like the GO crowd is one big (happy/odd/occasionally pervy) family, and I feel very odd coming into it blind.

That is exactly what I was going to say. See me use my "fangirl" icon just for the occasion.

Paul Cornell wrote every Continuing Adventure I have ever bothered to own. Edited to add: And according to Wikipedia, the only New or Missing Adventure he wrote that I do not own is Family of Blood. Which I have instead seen. My Paul Cornellitude now feels satisfyingly complete.

Scream, I'll save you later.

An appearance by David Tennant himself couldn't get me out of bed in time for a 10am panel on Saturday, but I shall definitely see you at the others. Good luck! :)

Dang, now I'm wishing I could be there. And dude, Paul Freakin' Cornell!!

Yes, I will attest to the fact that you give good panel. Really good panel.

The girl fandom panel will be either hilarious or churning in wank. Either way, it should be pretty great.

Thank Christ, no.

(edit: Chicago was tougher. I did something like six panels and the masque judging. I really enjoyed it, but the majority of the panels were on Saturday... along with the show. Ow!)

My schedule is:

- Masquerade 101 (Friday)
- Notes from the Virtual Trenches (Saturday)
- Doctor Who & Torchwood Costuming: A Pre-Masquerade Workshop (whatever the hell THAT means) (Saturday)
- Masquerade itself (AYIE!)
- No-Sew Costuming (Sunday)

Paul Cornell is an absolute luv and I won't hear a word against him as he didn't take a restraining order out on me after I exploded in a fit of squee at him back in '07. ;)

Srsly, though, nice guy with a moderately wicked sense of humor.

I just watched that on Saturday. It was my introduction to Dr. Who. I screamed a lot because I can't deal with suspense. My fairy goddaughter, age 5, was glued to the screen the whole time. She is clearly less of a wimp than me.

I would love links to transcripts or something after the event. I mean, unless I suddenly get really good at long-distance trans-Atlantic kayaking, I doubt I'll make it to the con, but those panels sound snazzy.
