They are still waiting for one more culture to come back. Assuming that shows what they expect it to show she will be released from the hospital in the next twenty-four hours, after which, she's going to try to get taken to an Internet cafe over the weekend so she can let you all know how she's doing herself.

I did some pneumonia research online about recovery times and such last night, in an effort to help her argue for staying on the dig (the possibility of her leaving early hasn't been raised again since she was first admitted), because as much as I miss her and this was stressful for all, the best possible thing is if she can rest for another week or two and then go back to work and finish out the last three or so weeks of the season there.

The heat and dryness of the country have to be a good thing under the circumstances, no?
Continuing to send beams to you both.

That's excellent news, I hope she gets released as expected and can stay to work on the dig when she's able! *crosses fingers for her*

I'm really glad she's feeling better. Pneumonia can be scary.

::fingers crossed:: Just, tell her to take it easy. I've done the bronchitis thing nearly every year and it takes a lot out of you. Hope she can finish the dig since it's a shame to miss out on something that you've been planning on.

She may be able to get back to work, but I'd recommend doing it slowly and maybe part-time to start with. I had pneumonia in March, and it took me a long time to fully recover.

Of course, I have the immune system of a pillowcase, so she'll probably do much better.

Crossing fingers, but --

In my observation, pneumonia recovery takes *six weeks*. For her to go back for the last part and be able to work at anything like full effort would be an unusually rapid recovery. Have contingency plans.

Well, all of it's I think, not entirely up to any of us right now. Ideally, a lot of my desire for her to stay, other than she loves the country and wants to go back to work if she can, is it's warm and dry there. It's cold and wet here. Two weeks of rest there will probably do her more good than two weeks of rest here right now.
