Oh god, I just wasted more time than I want to admit reading [livejournal.com profile] who_secrets, as such, I must note the following:

- David Tennant is a seriously skinny dude. That doesn't mean he needs a sandwich and it doesn't mean he has an eating disorder.

- Gareth David-Lloyd has gained weight since Torchwood series 1. That doesn't mean he's fat. He's not. SO SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT THE FUCKING PIES!

- Any statement that begins "real women" or "real men" is made of fail.

(And, tangentally, if you ever say _I_ need a sandwich or that I'm fat (and yes, believe it or not, I've heard both), I will be hard pressed not to pop you one in the jaw.)

OMG, fandom, SO CRAZY.

See, this is another area in which I disagree with a lot of the fandom.

Scruffy Gareth? Still hot. Scruffy Gareth in a hoodie and jeans? Still hot. Scruffy Gareth hung over in a t-shirt he has probably just slept in and rumpled trousers?

STILL HOT.

It's possible I have strong feelings on this topic.

I'm a big fan of the scruffy. The rest of it though? Makes me giggle and feel sort of maternal in a really dirty, uncomfortable way.

But think of the possibilities! Not to mention all the covert bondage potential!

(Oh god, I'm a terrible person.)

You're an evil, evil man.

I've got to book Patty and I's Dragon*con room tomorrow, clearly (since I'm still on the wait list for the Marriott).

I went Wyndham again. It's odd, because their rates aren't that much better than the con hotels, but I really liked them last year.

I'm hoping we can at least still get into the Sheraton, and truthfully, even if we can get into the Marriott, I might not move us. The thought of having a "too many people" meltdown and not being able to get an elevator scares the crap out of me. I can usually cope, but that con showed me exactly where my edge of tolerance is (this year: more sleep! smarter travel plans!)

The Marriott has never had the elevator problems that absolutely plague the Hyatt. It's actually the quiet hotel. Unfortunately, even though our group tried to book very early January as soon as the con rates went up for use, the hotel was already booked. Obviously, the con I've come to know over the last... omg TWO DECADES... is changing. ::slightly stunned by the passage of time and wondering when I got that old::

The first time I went to Dragon*Con was in 1989 and it was held at the World Congress Center in Atlanta. Skipped 1990 to see Fritz Leiber at the Georgia Fantasy Con, but he died before the con so we didn't go. Haven't missed a Dragon*Con since 1991.

Hope we can do some kind of proper meet-up (if there is such a thing) at the con this year. I think we're booked for the Hilton. (Our Georgia friend handles the booking and we just throw money at him for the room.)
