So sick of discovering foods that I'm not intolerant too but my body is too damaged from celiac to consume without misery.

I keep trying popcorn, but it's now time to stop. The suffering level is not worth it.

Popcorn is really really hard for me too, and I'm not celiac (though I do have other food sensitivities.

I came across gluten free dog treats the other day, and thought, if [livejournal.com profile] rm were a dog, she could have these.

I actually had to give popcorn up years ago. I just got tired of getting sick every single time I ate it. No, I have no idea why either.

I do miss fruit. Juice and yogurt were good too. Damn stomach linings.

Sorry you can't have popcorn though. Maybe if you try an organic brand?

My cat eats gluten free food too. If I can't have wheat, no one in the house can!

And RM would totally be a greyhound XD

Popcorn is a vicious, vicious food. Our bodies are not meant to eat crispy outer corn shells; they dig into one's stomach lining and are painful as heck.

This doesn't stop me from having attacks of OMG POPCORN every so often and paying the price, but it has limited me to smaller portions (mostly) and not very often.

It never, ever bothered me before my celiac became active. Now it's HORRIBLE and I need to stop.

It didn't bother me nearly as much as a kid, and I wondered why my mother complained about it so much. Now I know. Ow ow ow suck.

Rice cakes kind of almost sort of stave off a popcorn craving.

Yes you do.
But that doesn't mean it's not an egg sucking dog.

Hi, I lurk, don't comment tons, but enjoy your posts immensely. This particular one got me thinking...

A few years ago, I was told I have a 'mild wheat allergy' and that I should 'lay off of it for a while'.

Well... The stroke kicked my ass and I have enough problems with nausea and what have you that I want to get more serious about being gluten-free. Googling overwhelms the hell out of me. I'm just... I'm sick of being sick, and then whining about it. I need to do something.

If you happen to get a free moment, can you point me towards a helpful link that will at least get me started?

Hey Rach-

Before you xnay popcorn for life, you might want to try this:

http://www.amishmart.com/amt-p-407.html

I bought it for Ian and he can eat it even with his Crohn's! Now, you're different so it may not work for you(and you may have already tried the baby white variety) but they have little to no hull and those you encounter you can spit out. It's pretty delicious, and popcorn poppers for the microwave only run ya like 20 bucks.
