Jazz Age Picnic (and a turkey)

Today was the Jazz Age PIcnic on Governors Island.

Things of note included a wild turkey wandering around Wall Street, a new section of the island being opened (which led to me loudly shrieking and laughing about being dressed like Jack Harkness and almost falling out of a hammock, repeatedly), a city employee that will be the subject of a nasty phone call I make to 311 and, of course, PURE AWESOMENESS. Photos below. Turkey included.

Wild turkey on Wall Street!

picnic carnage

This girl's dress had a habit of giving us a very good view of her very nice ass. I didn't take pictures of that indiscretion though.

boys dancing!

I just love this photo to pieces. LIttle boy, laughing parent and tuba!

We're really into each other.

flowers!

a newly opened part of the island

driftwood drifting

Patty with fake roses

seagull!

I'm vain, but my reaction is not normally, "yeah, I'd do me," but yeah, I would. Love this photo. Yay Patty.

Hammock! I was really bad at this and laughing like an idiot. Patty thinks this looks like she is eating my brains.

I live in the greatest city in the world AND I get to go home with her.

You two are just disgustingly cute.

I was planning on heading out there tomorrow. I've never made it over and seeing your photos is really making me wonder why I haven't.

It's the turkey that is boggling me. omgwtf?

OMG you two are made of adorable. That kid-parent-tuba picture is sweet, too.

I had no idea you guys had wild turkey too.

Yes, you are both totally adorable in those photos. And she is totally eating your brainz...

We don't, I don't think. We're speculating it came over on the Staten Island Ferry.

Gorgeous! I love the photo with both of you -- so adorable!

You two are ADORABLE. I love the boys dancing pic... and I can't hammock in a frame hammock to save my life (the ones with no frame that sort of engulf you in their hammocky-goodness are a lot easier)

That picture of you is fantastic! And you two look good together; I'd say both of you are lucky. :)

[identity profile] genders.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
The smoochy photo is great and should be iconified immediately. Hair's looking good too; did you have it cut again or has it just grown past the awkward stage?

[identity profile] bodlon.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, delights. Seriously.

And WTF, turkey?!

You two are awesome together. I'm beaming like a huge dork.

Oh @#$! I swear I was just thinking about this event and wanted to go this year.

Looks like you had a lovely time, and such lovely pictures of you and your honey.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
It runs tomorrow too and a bunch of us will be there. It's not too late!

[identity profile] lolliejean.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
These made me smile. I especially love the kissy face photo.

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
It looks like you both are having so much fun. Happiness.

[identity profile] bare-bear.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
I love so many things about your pictures, but most especially THE HATS! The ladys' floppy hat in the picnic scene, the boys dancing (I lust for the hat with the band), Patty's feather, the flashing ladys' black hat, all of them!

That is a great picture of you! Nice outfit (suspenders!). Jack Harkness indeed. :D

(The turkey!)

truly, wonderful images.

[identity profile] dark-machine.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
you're already kicking my ass in writing, but now I see you've moved beyond my ability to take a damn picture, too.

"How Base!", I say.

but I mean it in the nicest way.

[identity profile] spiralflames.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
wonderful photos, wonderful day, wonderful happy!

[identity profile] bare-bear.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Wait! Would you mind if I made an icon of the boys dancing? It's such a bright happy pic, and I need a bright happy icon. Please? :D

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Go right ahead! Just credit me in the icon notes when you upload.

I especially like...

[identity profile] dark-machine.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
...that image ofdriftwood, which is wonderfully composed, and that last image of Patty. You two are definitely annoyingly cute! :-)

[identity profile] 19-crows.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
Wonderful pictures - you two really are cute!

The feathers on that bird almost look like a pheasant....not that that's any less weird to see on Wall Street.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
We thought it might be a pheasant at first too -- but it was HUGE and would have to be a radioactive pheasant to be that size.

[identity profile] sykii.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
A shame we missed you; looks like a beautiful day.

[identity profile] ruisseau.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
You two are cute! :)

And yay for boys dancing in old-fashioned clothes! Makes me think of the episode of Torchwood where Jack dances with the original Jack Harkness. *sigh*

[identity profile] marzipan-pig.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
I love that Patty has freckles on her nose :)

[identity profile] darthhellokitty.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
You guys are adorable. I'm getting around to envying you both at this point.

As for the turkey - well, he couldn't do a worse job on Wall Street than the people did, could he? I love Unexpected Urban Wildlife.

[identity profile] 51stcenturyfox.livejournal.com 2009-06-07 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
Great photos, and what a beautiful setting! You too are just too cute for words. (Awww kiss!)

I wish I'd done something outdoors yesterday. Today I may walk outside and get the newspaper(!)

You remind me of Stephen Fry in that one photo of you. Something about the schoolboy smirk, I think.

I demand that these photos be sealed in a metal capsule and buried in a vault deep in the earth, so that future civilisations will know what the English word 'adorable' meant
