Back from Boston. Animals ate some of our veggies (grrrrr), but the plants held up well overall.

Have dealt with a number of unfortunate bug incidents in the house since our return.

Meanwhile, in fannish news Gallifrey One got moved to a week later, which is neither here nor there for me, and hey, George Moffett is really a guest! Meanwhile, Barrowman apparently got into some crash while filming Top Gear and i wish I had never read about it as it involved EYE THINGS. Finally, Torchwood comes to BBCA tomorrow, and I'm sort of looking forward to watching people experience it without having to go through it again myself (of course, I am planning to buy the DVD). Lots of fan work stuff I need to get on, but won't happen 'til tomorrow.

Time for True Blood and bed.

Barrowman crashed while filming for Fifth Gear, which is a competing show. But yeah, eye things. *shudder* And seriously, JB is running out of good karma with all these crazy and somewhat random "could've been much worse" injuries.

I read that he was and they weren't sure if his injuries in this crash are severe enough to prevent him? But I don't know if he's actually laid up from this like with the sprained ankle or what.

The original BBC Top Gear got canned some years ago (and/or Jeremy Clarkson's ego ate all the other presenters) and some of the survivors found a home on commercial TV as Fifth Gear including the only female Top Gear presenter who ever lasted, Vicki Butler-Henderson. The BBC then revived Top Gear in response, so the two shows run in competition. Top Gear is currently more prestigious but I wouldn't be in the least surprised if JB hadn't gone with the other one because Clarkson is an overtly racist, sexist, homophobic arsehole the sight of whose backside in jeans has, reputedly, caused Levi's to take advice on whether commissioning a hit on him to protect their entire market sector would definitely be legally and ethically contra-indicated (consultants still consulting on that one).

Evidence from Barrowman's website suggests the accident happened around 8 July and he's certainly done shedloads of personal appearances and live radio since (including, rather sweetly, opening the village school fete in his local near-Cardiff village, for which they cannot possibly have paid him anything,let alone the going rate), so I suspect they leaked the story to the News of the World just before Fifth Gear aired tonight on the basis that if one has to experience near-death, it would be a shame to waste the impact on ratings*.


*Which, incidentally, I regard as sound common-sense on his and the producers' part.

Haha, one of my best girl friends is a huge fan - but she also does car rallies and races and stuff. XD She is a veterinarian, almost 6 feet tall, gorgeous, has long red hair and knows karate. I tell her she is a human Mary Sue.
