boarding plane. Writercon overall good unique important con. Con also contained various types of fail - see my twitter for some. Full post later. Hate that we have to keep doing this.

"Hate that we have to keep doing this" - same types of fail as occurred at Lunacon?

came here via your twitter hashtag. i'm so sorry and annoyed and pissed about fail occurring yet again. i had already left and am (as i'm typing) trying to get the details from someone who wasn't on the panel either but is still there. i am looking forward to your more comprehensive post and...throws up hands. i don't know!!!

and i'm sorry i didn't get to meet you. i've been seeing your journal from afar but this weekend seemed like a complete roller coaster somehow!

Just wanted to say that I love meeting you and [livejournal.com profile] kalichan so very much. And yes, there were a couple varieties of fail, though overall I adored the Con - and I was actually very impressed that we managed to get an hour and twenty-five minutes into the racism/sexism/homophobia discussion before someone attempted to derail it. (Actually, were you there for that? You might've ducked out by then - I'm sure Kali will tell you in more detail, but it was epic fail and quashed pretty quickly).

No, this was more the RaceFail/Internalized Sexism/Queer Fetishization fail. Manners were mostly fine!

I had to leave halfway through the panel and the major fail apparently occurred while I was at the airport -- when my phone started ringing about it. But there were also other things I saw and heard and were directed at me or people I was with during the con which were seriously Not Okay. That said, the fail was not ubiquitous and that, at least, is something - but I can't believe I have to say that!

I'm sorry I missed you too! What a chaotic, but awesome time. Next one!

Thank you! You too!

I had left by then - I got the call at the airport. That session both went better than I thought it would, and when I heard about what happened, that was worse than anything I had expected too, but the squashing sounded great. There were other subtle things during the con that I thought were problematic, but overall that fail was largely stuff that at least -- well, I think we can work with that because at least it was largely in dialogue. But details tomorrow -- I don't want to give a skimmy version and I'm TIRED.
