ive worked for manpower in the past. they suck BAD.

i have yet to work for a temp agency that DOESNT suck:
(snelling, staffpro USA, kelly team, HCS resources, adecco, aerotek, office team, weststaff & the KPM group -
who gave me the WORST of all the age-ist, racist, sexist,
sizeist bullshit ive ever had to deal with from ANY agency).

they simply dont give a shit about their employees as human beings
& whether they get paid on time (or ever) AND once an assignment
ends, reporting to UI that there is continuing work even when there
isnt so you get no unemployment benefits.

in the nearly 10 yrs ive been temping, i have only received UI TWICE.
& ive been off work for up to 3 months @ a time here & there.

im ranting, arent i?
temping SUCKS but is pretty much the only choice sometimes.

Hmmm. I thought it wasn't the staffing agency that asked for it. I work in insurance for staffing agencies, and I think we all heard about this a while back as an example of why our insureds need employment practices liability, for the fact that Manpower is being held liable for the actions of the client company. Not that that's the point, but while we're on the subject...

I suspect this falls under the category of "to get rid of an employees that you have no legitimate excuse to fire, ask them to do something totally outrageous, and then when they refuse, or do the job poorly, you have a pretense for firing them".

You've heard of unions that have ridiculous-seeming rules written into their contracts that dictate exactly what kind of employee may be asked to do what task? It's to prevent employers from pulling shit like this.
