My temper? LOST.

http://shaggirl.livejournal.com/186106.html?thread=3048698#t3048698

ETA: I missed, until just now, the part where good ol' Ogi says it's okay for him to use the word "tranny" because that's what people who love trans individuals call said individuals in the adult entertainment industry.

So I just had to write a rant about sex work.

This whole thing is becoming more surreal the more comments I read from those two jerks.

Also, on a more random note, would you mind if I friended you? I've noticed your comments in various !Fail discussions to be thoughtful and great, and I enjoy the entries I can see here in your LJ :)

I begin to suspect there is no book, and this is some really elaborate prank.

thank you for being logical and reasoned in your response, even if you *did* lose your temper (which it did not read to me as you did). I.... I'm just sputtering over here, ready to choke the man. FLAMES!

The complexity of his obtuseness in his responses is pretty incredible.

I know these things were said (and can barely believe it) but I simply am astounded by the ignorance.

Definitely got a degree out of a gumball machine...,

And the result was something very important that needs to be borne in mind by more than just the wretched pollsters, so many thanks!

What a thing to wake up to in the morning.

Dude, no. No No No!

I still haven't decided if I'm going to comment there on the sheer wrongness of it all!
That survey should die a horrible, stabitty, fandom death!

I felt certain it must be some definition of slasher with which I was entirely unfamiliar and suddenly some of it might make sense.

But no.

But what do I, as a straight woman who not only enjoyed Misty Lackey's Magic's Price trilogy but also Garcia Lorca/Dali in Little Ashes and Jack/Ianto -- what the hell do I know?

You're not the only one. And really, I'm beginning to think yelling at these guys is the only way to deal with them. Their skulls seem to be incredibly, incredibly thick.

Your fury is a thing of beauty.

I'm also starting to think that this must be an elaborate troll/social experiment/prank, because it just doesn't seem possible that anyone could be as jaw-droppingly ignorant and/or willfully obtuse as this person seems to be (while combined with stunning condescension and a negative amount of social skills).

Here's what I think:

The attitudes, solecisms and insensitivities expressed by ogi_ogas and their survey are the attitudes held by most ordinary people. They are the attitudes expressed by every one of my 20 graphic design classmates (all under 25). They are the attitudes I heard everyday from all but two of my 100 year mates in high school. They are the attitudes I hear in the pub. In popular entertainment. In tabloid newspapers. They are what is ordinary. http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/organgrinder/2007/sep/12/jimdavidsonshellskitchenex (The Sun outsells The Guardian 9 to 1)

For this reason I think that people like rm and the commenters on this thread are something else. I think they are extraordinary.

Aside from a nice niche of interesting , enlightened people ogi_ogas is what I think the world is like. At best.
