Okay, we went to a pepper festival but there are no pepper pictures.

At the very end, we went to walk around the pond, and Patty took me up to the little shrine, where she told me to clap to say hi to the god in question, so I did and then there was giant thunder! So we went to walk around the other half of the pond, but the path was all flooded out, so we had to go up around the Brooklyn celebrity path to get out.

There was a structure with a roof at the Japanese pond, so we spent a lot of time there looking at this view.

Patty ponders koi.

Koi has crazy eyes.

Across the pond. It's pouring.

Off to the side. Still pouring.

This koi shot is ridiculously blurry, but I still really like it. To me it feels like what koi must look like to each other. And you can feel the wetness of the water in it.

Wonderful shots. If that rain hit the same time it did here in Queens, then I know when you were there!

So you called that thunder. ;-)

That looks like a good time. I'm dying to get to our local Japanese garden, take some pictures, look at the koi.

It's prettier than it would have been if it hadn't rained.

Having just finished [livejournal.com profile] seanan_mcguire's Rosemary and Rue recently, I have to admit that the picture of the crazy-eyed koi went odd places in my brain.... (Alas, explaining why would spoil the introduction of the book.)

A koi pond in the rain...wow, these are beautiful. Some day, I would love to go to Central Park.

Thanks. This is actually from the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, which is on the edge of Prospect Park.

I so would love to have a big koi pond. But it's such a pain trying to keep possums and stuff from eating them.

There were easily hundreds, but then this was a lake, more than a pond, although I do not know the technical difference.

If you have it on your property, it's a pond; if your property is on it, it's a lake.

Streams are navigable, by some standard or other, creeks are wade-able, and a creek/ crick is the same thing.
I think.

here we have to worry

Beautiful pix! The rain makes everything look magical.

Hey, where I am, it's already your birthday. Have a great one. Your plans for it sound fabulous. Looking forward to more pix.
