I found American Beauty very offensive, and came perilously close to walking out of it in the theater (something I don't think I've ever done). I felt like the whole thing was about validating Kevin Spacey's rage, and that its sex and class politics were at best deeply troubling.
I thought a number of your thoughts on Lipsynch also applied to the first season of Heroes -- as you say, it's a reflection of a rape culture.
