So it turns out the tenants association for our building and a few others that has been suing the landlord is responsible for this whole receivership thing. They say it is good news and part of what they wanted in a flier under the door last night. So I'm going to go to the tenants' meeting on Wednesday to get a handle on things.
redstapler has made my NaNo project better but introducing me to She-Hulk. Because seriously? Media con bedroom farce chick-lit is only made better by the application of tell-tale green make-up smears. Oh Evan (yes, main male character now has a name), I'm so sorry!
Speaking of NaNo, the first NYC meetup is tonight, but am not sure if I'll get there.
Speaking of writing a book, I remember seeing some software for Mac recently designed to help in that it accommodates outlines, chapter structure, notes, etc. in a really awesome way. Anyone know what I'm talking about? What is it and where can I get it? Found!
Tried out Betty Crocker gluten-free brownies this weekend and They Are Awesome.
Some random woman I got into a thing with on newyorkers a while back because she wanted to know if the neighborhood we all now live in was safe for a "young, married, white woman" has posted again. This time, her flat is haunted. While I believe in these sorts of things (as I've seen some stuff), you can imagine my internal commentary that I will not repeat here.
A number of different ad categories are banned on this journal -- these include weight-loss ads and anti-gay ads. If you happen to see either, please take a moment and let me know so that I can make sure the bans aren't being evaded (and can be tweaked if they are). Thank you!
More as it happens!

Comics. I'm not a comics person. I didn't know the character even existed. It's EXACTLY the right cosplay choice for one of my characters to set a number of plot devices in motion.
She-Hulk was really awesome when they were having a lot of fun with the fourth wall where she'd complain about the ridiculous outfits the artists had put her in or punch through the panels and run through the advertisement pages to cut off whatever villain she was chasing.
Also, they would do the following with She-Hulk vs a bunch of lame villains including Plant Man (in New York City):
She-Hulk: ::beats up a bunch of lame villains:: Plant Man: ::stands there:: She-Hulk: Well? Plant Man: ::shrugs:: No plants.
If you need research, you might want to look at the early bits of Thunderbolts, which pulls in things from the surrounding Marvel universe. With footnotes, because they're referencing something random that happened in obscure comic issue something no-one but huge comic geeks remember and remind you want the acronym for whatever group they just ran into means. (Okay, after the twenty-gazillion time they start going "everyone remembers what S.H.E.I.L.D. means by now, right?" instead of telling you again. But footnotes! Because most people can't keep all this stuff straight.) Also, Thunderbolts is pretty awesome. (If you plan on reading it, don't look it up first, just get the beginning.)
Astro City is also awesome, although it's a more serious kind of superhero comic, so I don't know if knowing about it would be helpful for a cracky chick-lit plot, but it's really good and there are bits you'd probably really like and/or find interesting.
I liked the issue where a sidekick asked how She-Hulk's slip stayed intact through a knockdown drag-out fight, and she-Hulk showed her the “Approved by the Comics Code Authority” tag sewn in the back.
The fourth wall stuff and the feminist stuff and the way it can have a really sex-positive interp (while also dealing with the fandom trope of "the green girls are sluts -- that I think comes to us from Trek) is pretty much why this turned out to be so totally made of awesome for a particular subplot in my NaNo thing.
