cats!

1. Patty cuddles with Pretty Kitty, who is very sweet, but very nervous so if you try to hold her she stands up and walks around. Pretty is a skinny, delicate, normal (as far as it goes) cat. After this photo, the other cat feels neglected and comes over, causing Pretty Kitty to skitter away.

2. This is Little Kitty. She used to be the runt of the litter. Now, notice the seal-like blubber (she weights about 20 lbs and has a very short body for a cat, thus making her nearly spherical). She and Patty are having a moment of great dubiousness about her decision to sit on the arm the sofa. She is too big and might fall off!

3. Little Kitty sniffs Patty's glasses.

4. Little Kitty tickles. Patty shields herself.

5. Little Kitty and Patty decide to maintain distance. Again, note seal-like blubber on GIANT CAT.

I approve of stripey cats with seal-like blubber big bones. (see icon, Sneakers yclept.)

Yeah, we have one of those. I had never actually seen a cat with a double chin before Puck became spherical.

Little doesn't have a double chin mainly because she does't have a neck.

[identity profile] kdsorceress.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
One of my best friends from high school used to have one of those spherical-type cats. The cat was called Minette, and had the amazing ability to sit on all four of her paws, entirely obscuring her legs from view.

Hence, we started to call her Minette the Sea-Slug.

I love gigantic cats.

KITTIES.

Randomly, it also appears that Patty and I own the exact same pull-over fleece.

Little Kitty...iz not so little.

Glad to know seal-blubber is endemic among cats and not exclusive to mine!

Very cute! *sniffs and snuggles* as well.

I have one who's 18 pounds, and I thought that was huge. He's black, though, which is a slimming color ;)

[identity profile] wynkat1313.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Adorable! Nose to nose is the best!

We have six (help me gods) cats. but it helps that they get to go out side or we would never wake up from our sleep. One of them we call Large Loud Lazy Loveable Loaf because while not short waisted like you Little Sweet, he did manage to fill his entire, rather lengthy frame. Along with this he must have Siamese in him somewhere because Lady when he talks! which is always, he can be heard down the block.

our four girls tend to do the distance thing your Little Kittie is doing in the last shot - get as close as they dare to the human and then burrow in for the night. Its rather sweet usually.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Pretty Kitty in the first shot is part Siamese and she does not shut up. Mrrrowwwwr Mrrowwwr Mrroooooooooooooowrr. She is Concerned Cat.

[identity profile] wynkat1313.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
rolf.... oh gods! Exactly!

[identity profile] arwyn.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahaha... our cat is Concerned Cat, too. He talks all the time. Usually he announces his jumps to you, as he's jumping. "Mrrow!" and then he lands on your desk. But he also looks like Hitler...

I like that fat cat.

One of my housemates' cats makes this preep noise that sounds exactly like those things that jump on you from above in Silent Hill... before he jumps on your head.

As a friend of ours discovered while playing that section of Silent Hill in the same room with the cats. He was very startled. ::g::

Maybe it's the name. Our 'Little' is anything but, too. She is not in the icon pic.

I love your cats SO MUCH.

[identity profile] aviv-b.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh thanks! My 15 lb Teddy Boo cat saw this and wants to know why he has to be on a diet. He's the one on the right in the icon. Twenty pounds is a big kitty. More to love!

[identity profile] elainasaunt.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
These are so cute! I showed them to Thelma and Spencer but they were more interested in ... dinner. Speaking of which - inspired by Patty, I had Brussels sprouts tonight. I never knew they grew like that! Mind you, before I came to France, I sort of thought they grew in white cardboard freezer boxes. (Full disclosure: tonight's came out of the freezer, too.)

Hee hee, fat kitty!

My cat is pretty damn chunkalicious too -- his blubber swings back and forth when he walks.

A previous roommate's previous cat had passed spherical into square while we were roommates. (He lost interest in life except for food and sleep after he lost his balls, and nothing she did really got his interest back/activity levels up.) He was definitely an interesting cat, though.

Adorable cats. ^_^

My friend is currently fostering 4 kittens and their mother - so adorable! I'm uploading pics right now.

Dear heavens, in the last pic, Little Kitty looks like the front half a of a small cat grafted onto the back half of a far larger cat. Also, much cuteness.

Pretty Kitty is pretty. Little Kitty is . . . not little (but what a beautiful little face). Have you seen Simon's Cat cartoons on YouTube? They're all funny, but this once cracks me up repeatedly:

My cat when we moved to the new house was all of 7 lbs. Somewhere/how since June, she's up to 21! I have no idea how she got that fat or how to fix it.

It was even Pre Kittens!

[identity profile] graene.livejournal.com 2009-11-09 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Always love to see pics of your adorable kitties. I notice you didn't mention that they are also both shed-monsters of the first degree, however. I am currently being coated by mine.

Awwww. Kitties.

[identity profile] lilacsigil.livejournal.com 2009-11-09 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
One of my cats has kidney problems (currently controlled by medication and frequent dental visits!) and we have to work like crazy to keep fat on her - she's about 6 pounds at the heaviest. So if you have any kitty blubber to spare, do think about Blubber Donation!

[identity profile] iterum.livejournal.com 2009-11-09 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
I have a Little Kitty, who has fortunately remained proportionate to Big Kitty, so there's no confusion.

Kitties! Couch!!

[identity profile] viciouswishes.livejournal.com 2009-11-09 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
I once had a runt kitten that grew to very nearly the same proportions.

I had no idea that the Little Kitty to whom you have referred over the years was in reality huge. Oh, irony.

Nice cat pics. I've heard that runts often have ravenous appetites, as if to make up for having once been pushed away from their mother's milk by more aggressive litter mates.
