interesting/lame/horrifying

interesting: Julie Taymor will be directing Die Zauberflöte at the Metropolitan Opera. There's a ticket I must have.

lame: Mary Louise Parker is going to be staring in some movie musical romantic comedy thing that will have all the actors lipsynching -- what's the bloody point then?

horrifying: http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/03/18/1079199336533.html (Yes, yes, only I would bump into news about Tennessee in an Australian paper and then make you all read it).

Well, there's only one thing to do: charter some buses to Tennessee and drive 'em crazy.

What we need is someone gay with money like George Soros to organize a huge national or worldwide Pride festival there. Hopefully something with attendance that dwarfs the population of the county by a factor of at least 3 or 4. Of course, the best part would be if the festival brought lots of money in to the county, nothing fights hate like greed.

I will attempt to get us student tickets for that if you'd like. When is it happening?

No idea, I just read a press release about it on Playbill, so I think like next season.

Tennessee is busy polluting it's water with factory farm waste, but GAYS are a crime against nature? Fuckwits.

So when all the queers are deported, do you think they'll send us to Australia?

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2004-03-18 02:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahahaha. I think not... they're having a gay marriage debate too now, and it's only not as ugly as ours because no one there really finds it that interesting, but when the head of your government keeps saying "I'm not a bigot!" it's not a good sign.

Ooh. Since I'm on the other side of the world, but returning in July, can you keep me up to date on Zauberflöty goodness? We wants ticketses, precious...
