Cat update Little is really sick. The good news is that they believe it's all entirely reversable and curable. But she needs to stay in the hospital tonight and tomorrow. They are running another test to see if she has diabetes. They are adding another antibiotic and changing one of her other medications. Once they know if she is diabetic there is another treatment they can add or not (and also address the diabetes). She has to stay in the hospital tonight and tomorrow. On the 26th the other test will be back and we'll know more. And right now they have to hand-feed her too because she's not volunteering to eat. Good news: no ultrasound. Bad news: cat is in the hospital on fucking Christmas.

While I was sleeping I heard the smoke alarm out in the building all. It goes off all the time for a bit while people are cooking and ignored it. So imagine my surprise at getting up and finding the entire house smells like charred things. And ham. Someone had a kitchen fire involving Christmas ham. I'm revolted and pretty freaked out. Long-time readers will remember when the old apartment filled up with smoke and it was TERRIFYING when the idiots who lived below my then roommate and I fell asleep while making drunk food. It involved bacon and I had to wash the walls in white vinegar.

amand_r wrote a bit of Torchwood-related RPS. It's sort of genius for its narrative voices and it's not dirty but for a moment. Somehow, it manages to be _more_ uncomfortable for that fact. It's an interesting piece, because is it feeding fan fantasy or commenting unpleasantly on it? It also works so well because it obeys the laws of specificity: include things the audience thinks they know to be true, and everything else falls into narrative line.
