cruise: full day 2 - Grand Turk
Jan. 16th, 2010 08:58 pmOur second stop was Turks & Caicos. We stopped in Cockburn Town in Grand Turk which is still recovering from significant hurricane damage and was fairly poor. Patty went snorkeling, but I decided to take a taxi from the cruise port into town to see the historic homes from the tour that was all booked up by the time I decided I wanted to do it. Later, Patty and I met up for beach time.

Docked the the cruise port. Our ship is on the right.

Flower from a planting at the cruise port.

Cockburn Town.

Cockburn Town some more.

The dogs of Cockburn Town were less strays and more community dogs. I watched multiple people greet and feed dogs that seemed to belong to no one while we were there.

Why did the dog cross the road? To get the candy shop owner to feed him.

The ocean. As you can see, it was another cloudy day for us, as unseasonably cold temperatures continued.

Cactus.

The sea from the second floor verandah of the Turks & Caicos National Museum.

Dead plant on the verandah closeup.

Alley by the Turks & Caicos National Museum from the verandah.

Masonic lodge.

I don't even know what to say about this, other than these sorts of environments are probably the ones I have the best photographic eye for (run down buildings + nature).
