general update

Yesterday's rehearsal went really well, and I feel relieved and comfortable, which are all good things.

It was moderately warm most of the day, which is to say frequently cold but it still felt like pradise. And for the fairly low etmperatures it was oddly humid, making everything feel sea-side, which I suppose should startle less as hi, New York is an island.

Walked through Soho and ate dinner with Kat. Food was excellent, service was odd. Lots of swarming waiters who couldn't get anything done. Then went back to house with watch The Truman Show, which she hadn't seen and loved.

Then my mother called. Direct quote: "You'r father was telling me about the stuff you were tellimg him." I asked her what stuff she meant, and she couldn't get more specific. Talk about a way to show you care (For the record, I was explaining to him why a self-mareted ebook of the bible he is writing is not a strong marketing decision and giving him an update on Counsellor).

Took the subway home, as I generally do.

Dear people on the subway,

This is NYC. Bars are open until four, many of us don't go out until well after 11pm. So at 11:30 it is way way way to early to be passed out pissing on yourself in a nice suit drunk on the 1/9. Especially if you're sitting next to me.

Oh yes, I win, I do.

Dear other people on the subway,

You are not the first gay person to exist. I know you love musical theater. I know you are young, cute and practicing your time-step on the platform. I know that having an orgy to talk about makes you feel special and that being too loud in public complete with your very own fag hags is what you've always dreamed of.

But if you can't be interesting, shut the hell up. This is New York, the bar is higher here.

Groggy as hell and I've a day off. It's mystifying.

I am going to have to borrow this line.

hahahahahaha... that makes me think of our muni trans adventures yesterday - the man sitting next to me who kept whistling showtunes... we think he was senile/crazy or both. and, the young woman (who was standing in front of me w/her crotch eye level) who was wearing *such low* low rise jeans that we could see her pubic hair over the rim of her pants. she kept reaching down to scratch herself, too...

then in the haight - there is the drunk frat boy who had to have the driver stop *ASAP* so he could get off and puke in a garbage can on the street. his buddies stayed on the trans and mocked him out the window. nice.

ah, the joys of public trans.
