We know everyone else is over it (other than the crowds that are always there) but we LOVE Cafeteria and had AWESOME dinner last night.
New fans for the win. (Clarifying for wankers: fans that circulate air, not minions, thank you).
I posted more kink_bingo and have figured out what I'm doing for my WIAD story. Next kink_bingo story will be neither D/s nor Torchwood for those of you wanting a break. It's the Angel story I've threatened.
Um Torchwood/Political RPF. Not dirty, but SO WRONG, you know, in that way where I have to link you to it.
After covering for Eminem's homophobia and suggesting that we turn off the internet for ten years to see if we don't like that better, Sir Elton's stock had already been delisted in my opinion.
If you like that bookstore, you'd probably enjoy the Pittsburgh microbrewery (http://www.churchbrew.com/) in a former church. Slightly less magnificent architecture, but more ... um ... innovative repurposing.
I think Eminem is a far more complicated case that Rush. I've read several pieces that made me think that what Eminem is doing is fairly harsh social commentary of homophobia and similar attitudes. I'm far from certain, but I'm willing to give Elton John the benefit of the doubt on that - for Rush, not so much.
I'm also given to believe that the person who portrays Rush Limbaugh is not as much of an asshat as the character that he plays on the radio. But in both cases, I think that the subtlety of that point is lost on the audience and damage is the same as if they were utterly sincere.
I'll admit that perhaps these issues are complicated, but it also might be that Elton John simply goes where the cameras and checkbooks are without stopping to think of the social ramifications of his choices.
Having seen him perform back in his Donald Duck costume/verbally abusing the audience days, I'm pretty sure Elton does what's most profitable for Elton.
