The comics industry is the fucking worst for deriding its fans. At least Shatner was funny. Some of the things I've heard have been downright cruel.

Also, yeah, "don't cosplay at work-cons" is one thing. C gave me shit for my Tardis earrings. He went for the really tired, "TARD-is" joke, too.
