night of the weird

1. We had to threaten to call the cops on a guy sawing the legs off a barstool with a power saw on the landing of the floor below us at 11:30pm. That shit is loud, and that asshole should have accepted the necessity of him getting sawdust all over his OWN DAMN APARTMENT.

2. We bought lots of groceries, so we're stocked up for Patty during comps.

3. WE WATCHED THE END OF BUFFY.

4. I have thinky thoughts about it and CoE and death and show structure and Going to War Television Style. In the end, everyone will probably be angry. I will get to it when I have time/the urge to procrastinate/a professional use for it. On balance, that's sooner rather than later.

I look forward to hearing those thoughts, whether I agree or not. While I can see similarities, I tend to think Buffy worked in a way that CoE didn't. But there's also fandom similarity in that there are loads of people who consider S6 & 7 to have had such a personality transplant (esp S7) as to no longer be the same show.

I will probably smack my head in disgust once I know the answer, but what's CoE in this context? I'm getting "Church of England", and I'm pretty sure that's not what you mean.

Torchwood: Children of Earth

What on earth are you doing up at this hour in your neck of the woods?

Thanks for the translation. I've finally done my homework and done a crash read of some Torchwood synopses so that I understand what all the squee has been about. I'm just barely managing to resist adding it to my viewing queue. Probably after I catch up on "No Reservations" and "House". (They have the benefit of not inducing fanfic yearnings in me.)

One for your links collection. Crispin Blunt, a serving Tory Minister of State, has this week announced he's gay and left his wife. But that isn't the story. In fact, so completely isn't it the story that The News of the World, Murdoch's sleaziest UK scandal sheet, doesn't even seem to have bothered covering it , preferring to concentrate on an alleged match-fixing scandal in cricket instead.

Now that looks like real progress.

Right! I was going to send you a Buffy rec when you actually asked for it (was that last month?) but never got around to it. Anyway, it's a better read post series.

It's a story that kinda got buried because of major wank involving the author.

Oh, and here's another one that I love: Angel and Spike meet in in the 30th century. In space. http://www.sabershadowkat.com/buffy/ihaveanappointmentwitheternity.html

Oooh, being angry can be fun. I can't wait to see what you thought of the finale of Buffy, although I'll no personal basis for comparing it to Torchwood.
