Today was the day that was actually scary for me, what with my academic panel. Having gotten through that, even with like 9 more panels to go or something, it's all smooth sailing for me now. I'll talk about some stuff.

Academic panel was AWESOME. Great audience. Inquisitive audience. Torchwood-familiar unangry audience. Just total thumbs up.

Gay Themes in the Whoniverse -- sometimes funny, sometimes really serious and interesting because the guys I was on stage with were really surprised by some of my comments, in the sense that fandom doesn't just happen on LJ -- elsewhere in fandom people are having totally different conversations (and don't, apparently, hate River Song). Super fun.

I've not really been partying or social. I got to the Marriott, have a drink, come back to the room and crash. Problem is I drink redbull and vodka here and crashing means staying up late staring at the Internet.

Wore a suit today. Changed into a dress at night 'cause I was too hot. Totally discovered what I already knew -- love the suit, totally get more attention in the dress, totally feel uncomfortable with my inability to reconcile my gender presentation with the rewards I get for different types of gender presentation. More when I'm not tired and redbull-vodka-y.

Tomorrow I start the day reading from ConSweet, because I've always wanted to start my morning reading a story containing the words "whiskey dick." I apologize in advance.

Heard that awful Kevin Rudolf song I've written most of ConSweet to in the Marriott bar tonight. Made my evening.

The con feels different this year, like a job I know the shape of. Maybe, by Sunday night I'll be melancholy and considering how we don't all put on our pants the same way and wondering what it's like to be a star and how alone or not Atlanta feels. I've got, after all, a track record to uphold. But right now, it's just a gig, and a pretty awesome one at that.

Oh, HILARITY! I finally caught an elevator in the Hyatt. And went up to the green room (first time in three years) and it was closed for cleaning. doh!

That's not all I got, but that's all the words I can put in order right now.

And I miss Patty.

I'm glad all is going well and fun.

A fact that I've seen with other people and that always completely baffles me. Someone crossdressing attractively and well always attracts my attention far more than someone dressing attractively and well in a gender normative fashion. Then again, I'm a freak :)

If you're a freak, you have company. I agree with you here.

Well, you did look awesome in the dress. Though, for me, it may have been as much the historical aspect as anything else. I'm truly not into dresses and I've seen your suits - which are also awesome - though not the one you wore earlier in the day.

Glad you're having fun! It feels weird to me to know so many fandom folks at the con. For me and Mr. Thad, this has always been such a personal event, even with our little group of friends, that the aspect of having even more friends that I meet up with is unique and strange. In a good way!

The kidlet and I wandered by the Marriott hoping to find you but it was crazy packed. I'll definitely be at Freaks and Geeks and Alt. sexualities.

Hope to run into you soon!

Woo Dragon*Con! :)

I know you have no time to really look at anything - I'm sharing this here for future looking at. Newbie NYC resident from my friends list needs much help job and apartment wise. Any advice or pointers would be much appreciated..

I like River Song. More precisely, I like the character and its implications in the story line. I'm still undecided as to whether I like River Song, the person...

I'm glad the panels are going so well! Hope you might be able to post more about 'em after the con.

I'm grinning. Sad I'm missing this (who doesn't like to stumble into a morning reading and hear the words "whiskey dick" really?), but glad others will get the full experience.

You should do a poll about putting pants on. You're a professional. You need hard data FOR SCIENCE.

ETA: I'd be curious to hear about the other places fandom are happening for people on panels. LJ has basically ruined me and I should broaden my repertoire.
