The more I think about this all, the more I wonder if the hostility between different viewpoints within Torchwood fandom is actually, to some extent, caused by a defensiveness towards being judged by those outside of this fandom and death response experience for being upset at all. Instead of arguing with the people who weren't there and don't know, maybe we scream at it each other in some sort of displacement? I don't know. But I do know the eyeroll Torchwood fandom tends to get over all this stuff (not the bad behavior in specific, just the scope of the sadness) is wearying and certainly provokes me to a sort of unfocused, defensive aggression. Of course, I don't sleep enough and am highly reactive, but just throwing that out there.
