Working from virtually no information, I suspect that he wished you would provide sexual favors, and with proper manipulation, you could have leveraged that hope into getting him to buy you stuff. He told you that you were hot in a bar, then invited you to his ostentatious apartment. Maybe I'm reading this entirely wrong, but this situation screams "Tony Stark style pickup" to me.
