mithrigil is bringing you all another installment of Music Mondays today, talking about structuring the music for Dogboy & Justine and musicals in general and how sometimes (to add in another fannish reference to her post which is already filled with them) the end is where you start from.

In case I haven't said it before, the Australia song? Here's how we've got there:

- So we've got to have something Danny and Justine can talk about that isn't domination.
- It can't be anything pop-culture, as I don't want to pin us down in time too tightly. And hobbies fucking suck. What's a hobby? I don't know how that works. I just do stuff.
- Travel!
- Travel! Of course.
- Where? Europe?
- Not Paris. It sets up expectations. Or Italy.
- England is too ordinary. Japan!
- I could sign on for that.
- Australia.
- You. Are. Not. Serious.
- It's a little like New York. Everything is beautiful and everything is trying to kill you.
- I think I'm tearing up.

And that's why collaboration is the bomb, you guys. Sometimes the other person says something and it feels like it was pulled out of your own chest (and, granted, sometimes your response is a desire to holler back, "OH MY GOD, PUT THAT AWAY!" but mostly it's awesome).
