My dreams wouldn't be the same without his work, no matter how weirdly ranging its quality and tone.
I think, too, that some of his movies that get the most flack, where simply not the right thing for the right moment and were so bald in their emotion that they made us embarrassed even to watch them in the dark with strangers. As flawed work goes, I think that's lovely, really.
