be grand, indeed

In a suite at the St Davids (ask me about my freak ability to book luxury hotels for super cheap) watching the cloudy dawn come up over the Bay. Since we got here I've got word I'll be writing a chapter in an academic text on Doctor Who (lesson: if you believe in an idea, stick with it - this proposal had been rejected from another text a year earlier). In a week I'll also be able to announce a thing I've been waiting to announce for ages.

Patty and I are off to Hay-on-Wye today. My mobile is working again for emergencies, but no real Internet til we're back in Cardiff tomorrow night. I am typing this w my thumbs.

Please DO tell me about this freak ability! Is it learnable for those of us who wish to travel more?

It was a little weird. I mean, I'd already had a minute and a half when we walked into the hotel where I'd been like "WHAT HAVE I DONE THIS IS TOO WEIRD" which then gave way to my just enjoying the awesome, and then I got that news and couldn't stop laughing.

Added bonus: you're in the UK on Doctor Who's birthday.

Congratulations!

Hope to hear all the details on both these projects.

And please send some hotel booking karma my way, I'll be needing it.
