In other news: the snow from the other day has melted just enough that huge chunks of snow/ice about 6"x6"x12" are sliding off roofs and fire-escapes here and crashing down in a way that makes it sort of not safe to walk anywhere but the street in my neighborhood.

Re: snow - This happened to me as I was driving to contra dancing last night. Huge sheet of snow slides off an overhang right onto my windshield. Bit not good. (Luckily I was about to turn into the parking lot, so no harm done.)

Realized today that snow was causing a tree six feet away from my window to lean up against the side of the house. And against wires. Cue panicked branch-cutting.

I was on the upper west side and saw a huge chunk of snow fall off of the roof of the building. The sidewalk already caution tape block most of it but it still scare the hell out the two women walking past.
